Blue Ridge Federal Correctional Institution & Death House is A federal institution in the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of a former Victorian plantation that admits death row inmates from state and federal death rows. While on death row, inmates will work the grounds of the plantation unless a special order is given that requires the inmate to be held in 23-hour solitary confinement. The prison would also accept international death row inmates upon special request. We have both male and female death row wings and a separate death house for both. Before an execution, the facility is locked down 24 to 48 hours before the set time for an execution is set to be carried out for the safety of all the inmates. Blue Ridge Federal Correctional Institution & Death House specializes in execution by lethal injection, electrocution, and we have two gas chambers. Upon request, we can also facilitate hangings.
This facility is currently accepting new inmate transfers.
